I've been spending the past week and a half being flooded with memories, thoughts and stories about Jess, some so vivid that I can't believe they happened 10 years ago. Unable to fly to Athens in time for her celebration, I spent last Thursday honoring Jess from my home in Seattle in the best ways I knew how - being in nature, singing, walking, hugging my dogs, doing yoga, cooking, reflecting. It's funny to remember how different we were when we met in Athens and how similar we became (I blame the west coast for hippie-fying me), and despite years and distance, how deeply connected I still feel to her, even now. Stories about the many days we shared at the rural, lesbian folk-singing, womb songs, crazy made up languages, etc forthcoming...
